Sat. 12-28 Uwharrie sprint

Broz and I met up with Jim Calandro (aka "capo") at the QT on US74 E. in Charlotte at 10:30 today and proceeded down some very sweeperly (well not 'quite' twisty) roads toward the Uwharrie Forest east of Albemarle. Once there, we had lunch at the world famous gastronomical heaven known as "The Sportsman", where we were badly outnumbered by folks wearing camo. After lunch we kicked a few tires and admired the Ducati Paul Smart Replica that Jim was riding today (since his Hypermotard wouldn't crank!). Jim is a self-avowed Ducati fanatic--well, ANY bike thats Italian made, really. The Replica is a *very neat looking bike with it's seafoam-green frame, open clutch basket, and Ohlins "shock-art" hanging off of one side (only). Sounds real cool too. <muaha>

After drooling a bit, we rode about 55 miles thru the Uwh Forest and tried some new-to-me roads south of 24/27, one of which turned out to be a real jewel (for this neck of the woods, anyway). As the clouds started moving in we high-tailed it back to Charlotte as rain was showing up on radar just west of town. A nice 5+ hours ride and we didn't get wet!

Here's a few pics after lunch:
